Coming up with date ideas really seems like a challenge these days, doesn’t it?
Now that we’re in Phase 2 Heightened Alert, there are even less options!
But don’t worry, you can put your hiking shoes aside for once – here are 7 wallet-friendly date ideas in Singapore during Phase 2!
Date Idea #1: Picnic by the Sunset
Dreaming of sunsets in Malibu? Well, maybe sunsets at East Coast Park can be equally romantic. After all, some of the best things in life are free.
Some prime locations to catch the sunset are at Lower Peirce Reservoir, Labrador Park or Changi Boardwalk. For somewhere more urban, Keppel Bay, Marina East and Punggol Waterway Park are pretty decent too.

Of course, no picnic is complete without food. While Don Don Donki’s sushi are a viable option, you can opt for something more exciting by going on a food hunt with bae to #supportlocalhawkers. Some pages worth checking out on Instagram are @wheretodapao and @savetheelderlyhawkers.
Best part? You can get a huge feast for probably under $15 per pax. And you’ll be helping these elderly hawkers too!
Date Idea #2: Museum Dates

Date Idea #3: Cosmic Bowling and Skating
Bored of doing the same thing everyday? Perhaps this is the time to switch it up and try something a little more adventurous.
At just $18, you can rent a pair of skates and glide away for 2-hours at Hi Rollers Indoor Skating Rink located in Downtown East. Even if you are a newbie, don’t worry – their staff will keep a look out for you and provide guidance where needed. Plus, the lights are so dim that nobody will catch you falling!

Now, you can skate gracefully away under the neon strobe lights and booming music. Just remember to make prior bookings!
If skating isn’t for you, cosmic bowling options are also available.
Date Idea #4: Kayaking
This one’s for the couples who prefer to go a little more outdoorsy.

While kayaking in the reservoirs and basins may be fun, you can always take it up a notch by opting for mangrove kayaking at Pulau Ubin or to St. John’s Island. (The perfect chance to spend your Rediscover vouchers!) Of course, you can expect the damage for the latter to be greater than just basic kayaking, which will typically cost $10 to $15.
While your first instinct might be to head towards Stadium for a little dose of your Kayak adventure, remember to do a quick search to know all your options for scenic kayaking spots!
Date Idea #5: Farm Tours
Ever complained about how suffocating Singapore’s urban landscapes are? This is the chance for you to have a little getaway and visit farms far out West at Lim Chu Kang.
While it may be very ulu, the travel out there promises a day’s worth of activities. Some farms worth checking out are Bollywood Veggies, Hay Diaries, Jurong Frog Farm and Long Kuan Hung Crocodile Farm – all of which are neighboring farms.

Come prepared to take in the slow-paced countryside lifestyle – feeding goats, learning about frogs, and touring a sustainable farm. You might even snag a couple of fresh groceries home!
Date Idea #6: Prawning
For the nocturnal couples, you are not forgotten. While bars and clubs are no longer open till late anymore, prawning is here to keep you company through the night.
Some prawning spots which open 24 hours are ATC Fishing Hill at Jurong Hill, Ah Hua Fishing, Riveria Prawn Fishing, D’best Fishing, ORTO and Hai Bin. The rates typically range from $18 to $20 for an hour.

However, due to COVID regulations, you will not be able to grill the prawns on the spot anymore. Remember to call beforehand to check that opening hours are not affected as well!
Date Idea #7: Board Game Night
Last but not least, there’s always the option of taking it back to the classics! Nothing beats spending nights in with good company over pizza and a competitive game or two.
If your party size is too small, just hit your friends up over Zoom and suggest any one of these online games. Some hot favourites this Circuit Breaker are Skribbl, Overcooked, Among Us and Psych.

(But MLBB works too…)
If games aren’t your cup of tea and you prefer something more substantial, We Are Not Really Strangers is definitely a highly-recommended site to visit. Time to cosy in and get ready for a whole night of deep conversations.
